The Brief
To replace the existing, old and high energy consuming refrigeration equipment at Macknade Fine Foods at Selling, the South East’s leading food hall, near Faversham, Kent with a more efficient refrigeration and air conditioning system using the latest technology and to install the new equipment with the minimum of disruption to the store’s busy daily trading schedule.
The Solution
Polar Cooling Services expertise in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry and working in conjunction with partners Daikin, came up with the perfect solution by using a Daikin CVP central plant which would provide significant energy savings, and also provide cooling for the summer and heating in the winter months.

By utilising heat recovery together with optimised control and state of the art compressor technology, the CVP reduces energy consumption by 50% and therefore it offers a highly efficient way to reduce energy consumption and running costs whilst also reducing C02 emissions.
By removing the need for separate air conditioning systems, the space requirements for external condensing units is also reduced. The installation consisted of new Dallas 70 dairy and produce multi-deck chiller cabinets, and within the shop’s new butchery department, a meat serve over cabinet and a meat chiller cold room.
The Dallas 70 refrigeration cabinets supplied were also ECA approved and by using the CVP system, the complete works associated were subject to the Enhanced Capital Allowance tax advantage.
Two Daikin FXMQ125PVE ducted air handlers were added to the Daikin CVP unit to provide the cooling and heating for the store. The complete system was also linked to an RDM temperature monitoring system with email alert facility and remote refrigeration temperature monitoring access for peace of mind for the client.
The whole installation process took place with minimum disruption to the store.
